Welcome to WaterfallExplorer.com!
The mountains of North Carolina is one of the best areas, dare I say, in the world for water falls! with over an estimated 1,500 waterfalls in NC. Through out NC there are waterfalls that you can drive right up to or hike many miles to get to. since there are so many, you can easily see many waterfalls in one day. This website is for me to share my love of waterfalls and the photos that I take. If you would like to purchase a print, have comments, want to let me know about a waterfall you have visited, or if you would like to help out with this website (I need fellow Explorers) email me at Ryan112Ryan@yahoo.com

Crabtree Falls
Crabtree Falls is located in the Crabtree Meadows Recreation Area at MP 339.5 off the Blue Ridge Parkway. To access this waterfall you will actually enter into the camp ground and if you have any difficulty finding the trail head, ask the nice lady who is the "liaison". Her and her husband are the camper that is all decked out. This area is seasonal so you may have to park outside the gate (if you can get that far)it will only ad 15 minutes max. The trail to the 70 foot falls is a 2 mile loop. Take the trail from the parking area to a 'T' intersection. The trail to the right is shorter and somewhat easier - I'd give both a moderate in difficulty. Getting to the waterfall is easy, however its a good haul back. The nice old people at the camp ground said they hike it a few times a week, they looked in their 70's, I can only hope to be in that good of shape when I'm their age :)

Tom's Sping Falls
This is a pretty easy waterfall to find with a little guidence from me. It should be noted that this waterfall is somtimes called Jackson falls and Daniel Ridge Falls. Head out to Brevard, NC and take 276 north from the intersection of US 64, 276, and NC 280. Drive about 5 miles until you see the road fork. Take the left road (if you pass Looking Glass on the right you have gone too far) and travel 3.9 miles on this road.

Once the road turns to dirt, you will be close. you will see a define parking area with a gate to the right, park there and head down the road. About .1 miles down the road you will come to a washed out bridge

cross this and continue until a fork, which is about 300 feet.

Take the path to the right and follow it for about another .2 miles. You will come upon a trail the breaks off to the left with a small sign

(DONT TAKE THIS)

a little furthur and you will be there. At this point keep an ear out for the fall, you will find it to the left of the trail and a access trail will be about 30 feet before you can see the falls.

Lake Toxaway
there is a great area known as Lake Toxaway in Western NC, here you can find tons of waterfalls, which you can visit a few in one day trip. My last time up there, I was able to see 5 waterfalls, get lost for an hour (which was allot of fun), eat a good lunch, and take lots of pictures. I will be writing up these waterfalls in a circuit, so you can simply print directions and go from one waterfall to another. Untill I get to write this up, here are some photos :)
